Soleo Health Strongly Supports Introduction of New Home Infusion Legislation

Access to Life-Sustaining Care for Vulnerable Medicare Patients would Continue

FRISCO, Texas, August 17, 2021 – Soleo Health, an innovative leader and national provider of complex specialty pharmacy and infusion services, announced today its strong support of the introduction of S.2652, The Preserving Patient Access to Home Infusion Act by U.S. Senators Mark Warner (D-VA) and Tim Scott (R-SC). This legislation would ensure patients’ access to life-saving home infusion therapy by providing appropriate reimbursement for such professional services.

If enacted into law, S.2652 will enable some of Medicare’s most fragile patients — including those who are immune-compromised and those with congestive heart failure — to receive and/or continue receiving home infusion services. The measure would modify a current Medicare requirement that a healthcare professional must be present in a patient’s home for home infusion services to be reimbursed in addition to recognizing the value of both cognitive and professional services provided by home infusion pharmacies.

“The introduction of this legislation is an important step to ensure that the Medicare home infusion therapy benefit enacted under The 21st Century Cures Act is accessible to patients, many of whom are located in rural or historically underserved communities. We thank Senators Warner and Scott for their work on this important issue,” said Drew Walk, chief executive officer at Soleo Health.

“Enactment of S.2652 would allow us to continue to deliver the high levels of quality care and deep clinical expertise to which our patients and their physicians have come to rely upon. We thank all parties who advocated for this bill, including the National Home Infusion Association. These efforts bode well for patient care, which is clearly of the utmost importance,” Walk concluded.
