Soleo Health Strongly Supports the Passing of the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2018
Access to Life-Sustaining Care for Thousands of Medicare Patients will Continue
McKinney, Texas, February 9, 2018 – Soleo Health, an innovative leader in specialty infusion services, announced today it strongly supports Congress’ passing of a transitional payment for home infusion services in H.R. 1892, the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2018, which was signed into law today. This legislation well positions our patients and physicians engaged in the delivery of home infusion and specialty pharmacy services to continue delivering home care to some of the nation’s most vulnerable Medicare patients.
Section 50401 of the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2018 includes a transitional reimbursement payment for clinical services that are vital to the delivery of home infusion therapies under Medicare Part B. This law will enable some of Medicare’s most fragile patients, including those who are immune-compromised and those with congestive heart failure, to receive and/or continue receiving home infusion services.
“By aggressively advocating for our patients and rallying with other providers, we were able to have a positive impact that will benefit our patients. We are thankful that Congress recognized the significance of this legislation and thank the bill’s sponsors U.S. Senators Isakson and Warner and Representatives Tiberi and Pascrell, as well as the many other Members who supported this legislation, including many of our Texas representatives in Washington,” said Drew Walk, chief executive officer at Soleo Health.
“This provision will allow us to continue to deliver care and clinical capabilities in the manner to which our patients and the physicians have come to rely. We also thank all parties who advocated for this remedy, including the National Home Infusion Association and the Immune Deficiency Foundation. The passing of this legislation marks an important step toward the future health of our patients,” Walk concluded.
In 2017, industry stakeholders formed a home infusion-focused coalition, Keep My Infusion Care at Home, to support affected patients and providers and to urge policymakers to find a solution that addressed these vital issues.
